DAN ALVARADO
SOCIAL COMMENTARY
“I work with drawing, screen printing and painting as my primary media. Initially focusing on social and political commentary, my work evolved into more illustrative and emotional content. But in the current political environment, I’ve shifted my work back to social commentary.”
Dan Alvarado, a Brooklyn-based artist, has exhibited in New York City, as well as cities around the world, including Melbourne, London and Calgary. Dan also curates art shows in New York, including, recently, “Trumpocalypse: What Now?”, “BOROUGH5”, and “Watershed”. Dan uses micron pens to create fine, illustrative works on paper that become the primary foundation for his screen printing process. He hand-draws many of his stencils to make multi-colored prints on paper, and also prints on wood panels.
